Why Does God Not Tell Us the Future?

A woman was in prison in some country many years ago and her friends "inside" planned an escape with some friends on the "outside". They planned on digging a tunnel under the jail and under the border of the two warring countries until it was safe in friendly territory.

The woman agreed with it and agreed to go along when the tunnel was finished. The woman was told something frightening though to test her determination and trust.
At the end of this tunnel at the opening to freedom was a large spider sitting in the middle of a large and frightening spider web. She had to knock it down in order to go through to the other side.
She froze...terrified because she absolutely abhorred spiders...especially big ones. Her friends tried to reassure her that there would be a tool to help her get rid of the spider once she got to the end. That didn't matter though, for all she could think about was the spider. In her mind it was bigger than life. It could have been the size of a pea, but to her, because she knew now what waited for her, she couldn't go ahead with the plan and backed out.
Now let's say this same woman was in this same circumstance and was offered freedom but wasn't told about the spider. She was told about how the whole thing was planned out to the letter and nothing could go wrong...all she had to do was trust. She agreed and they went through with the plan. The whole group escaped that night and came to the end of the tunnel and met up with the spider. Of course the woman started to panic, but the tool that was available was sufficient enough to reduce it to nothing.

Have you ever wondered why God doesn't tell us the future? Most of the time if we knew the future it would render us incapacitated and useless.

Think about this next time you question God.
